Then make it happen."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes you\u2019ve just got to say YES! and then figure out how to make it work!<\/p>\n<p>I was recently invited to spend five days with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.virgin.com\/richard-branson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sir Richard Branson <\/a>and 25 women leaders on Necker Island, his private island in the Caribbean engaging in big conversations about how we can make a bigger impact in the world. It sounded amazing. \u00a0So I looked at the dates only to\u00a0see that\u00a0the timing (mid July) was far from ideal in terms of other speaking and other commitments for my new book <em>Brave<\/em> being\u00a0released in April. Not to mention my four rowdy\u00a0kids being home on holiday and husband\u2019s business commitments! I emailed him to share my misgivings. He replied instantly.<\/p>\n<p><em>Find your courage. Stop playing safe.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTouch\u00e9!\u201d I replied right back\u00a0(he&#8217;d repeated the\u00a0titles of my first two books) then promptly sent off an email to my friend <a href=\"https:\/\/emmaisaacs.com\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Emma Isaacs<\/a>\u00a0(CEO of <a href=\"https:\/\/businesschicks.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Business Chicks<\/a>)\u00a0who\u2019d invited me to Necker, to say \u2018I\u2019m in!\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The reality of life is that sometimes brilliant opportunities have less than brilliant timing. Such is life. But as I\u2019ve found time and time again, when we really want to make something happen, we can.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Too often\u00a0people say they lack the resources (time, money, connections, knowledge\u2026).<br \/>\nWhat they really lack is sheer\u00a0resolve and the resourcefulness that flows from it.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>For the most part, people don&#8217;t lack the resources to make amazing things happen in their lives \u2013 they lack the resourcefulness and resolve.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re waiting for the perfect circumstances to do something that excites your socks off, or you\u2019re wavering about saying yes to an opportunity because the timing is less than ideal, then take some \u2018time out\u2019 to get really clear about how much you want it (or how much you <em>don\u2019t<\/em> want the default status quo!) Just don&#8217;t live your life in a limbo-land of excuses, justifications and indecision.<\/p>\n<p>I can assure you, if you <em>really<\/em> want to make something happen, you will. And one year from now you will be so glad you bit the bullet, said a big YES! to yourself and then got on with the work at hand.<\/p>\n<p>It may not happen as quickly as you\u2019d like, or smoothly as you\u2019d like, but you\u2019ll be amazed at what you can do over the next year, much less five years, if you put your mind to it!<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s something you\u2019d <em>really<\/em> love to make happen in 2015?! Travel or working overseas? New job? Return to study? Losing weight? A new relationship? \u00a0Moving into a leadership role? Starting your\u00a0own business? Running a marathon? \u00a0(You know what you really want\u00a0if you&#8217;re bravely\u00a0honest with yourself. )<\/p>\n<p>Share it with someone. Connect with people who\u2019ve gone before you. Consider where you\u2019re excuses are really just a cover for your fear of failing. Get clear about how resolved you are and then commit to action. Daily.<\/p>\n<p>You have all the resources inside you to make it happen.<\/p>\n<p>It begins with a decision.<\/p>\n<p><em>What do you want? I mean <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>REALLY<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0want?!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Be brave. Think big. Back yourself. Don\u2019t settle.
